4th Infantry Brigade and HQ North East

4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East is a new adaptable force brigade based in Yorkshire and the North East. The formation comprises Regular and Reserve units who have the capability to carry out a wide range of missions. The Brigade was established on 1 December 2014 and its headquarters is located in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.

4th Infantry Brigade delivers operational effect and regional responsibilities across the North East of England and covers one of the largest regions in the UK.  It trains and administers over 10,000 soldiers across an area equivalent to the size of Belgium with a population of over 8 million.

Under its command are five Army Cadet Force (ACF) Counties and 16 Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Contingents comprising of over 8,500 young people and adults.  The region hosts two garrison towns (York and Catterick), five key training facilities (Infantry Training School at Catterick, Army Foundation College at Harrogate, Army Medical Training Centre and Army Training Unit (NE) at Strensall, and Defence School of Transport at Leconfield) and two University Officer Training Corps.
